Neck-Lift in Toronto

A face lift can reduce visible signs of aging and help you achieve a sleeker, more youthful appearance

Neck lifts are one of the most effective ways to reduce the signs of aging and to improve your appearance. If you want to remove the effects of gravity, sun exposure, and daily stress, and look great at any age, a good neck lift may be the answer. As people age the jaw line grows slack and jowly, and folds and fatty deposits appear around the neck. While a neck lift can’t stop the aging process, it can work to reverse the most visible signs by removing excess fat, tightening muscles, and re-draping the skin of your neck. Our plastic surgeon, Dr. Yasser El-Sheikh, will assess your skin quality and bone structure to determine the approach that is best for you. A neck lift can be done alone, or in conjunction with other procedures such as a face-lift, forehead lift, eyelid surgery, or nose reshaping. A neck-lift can improve the deep cheek folds, jowls, and loose, sagging skin around the neck that come with age. After surgery, you’ll present a fresher, more youthful face to the world.

About the Neck-Lift Procedure

There are several different types of neck lift surgeries, each with their own unique benefits and risks. The type of rejuvenation surgery that is best for you depends on your objectives, the specific features of your face and skin, and the degree of sagging in the neck and jowl area. Our plastic surgeon uses a wide variety of techniques to achieve your rejuvenation objectives.

During your neck lift surgery, bleeding spots will be cauterized to reduce bruising and swelling, making for an easier recovery. Some minor liposuction may also be performed during the procedure to sharpen the definition of the neck.

  1. Incisions usually follow the natural line in front of the ear, curve behind the earlobe into the crease behind the ear, and into or along the lower scalp.
  2. Facial, neck tissue and muscle may be separated; fat may be trimmed or suctioned and underlying muscle may be tightened.
  3. Most of the scars will be hidden within the normal creases of your skin.
  4. After deep tissues are tightened, the excess skin is pulled up and back, trimmed and sutured into place.

Neck-Lift recovery

You will experience swelling and bruising during the first seven to fourteen days. However, the discomfort is minimal and easily controlled with medication. Your bandages will be removed at the centre in a day or two after surgery. Sutures are removed, often in stages to minimize scarring, within seven days. You will be able to return to work and social activities within 2-3 weeks.

Neck-Lift Results

Our goal is to help you feel more confident and comfortable with a sharper jaw line that enhances the definition of the neck angle and reduces the appearance of “double chins”. Our doctors will focus on delivering a result that is beautiful, natural-looking, where the lower part of the face and neck has a smoother, more youthful and natural contour.

Final results are usually evident in six to eight weeks with continued improvement for up to six months. After that, the aging process continues. Your lifestyle choices, bone structure, skin type, sun exposure and genetics all play a role in determining the extent and longevity of your results.
