Breast Reduction – Mammoplasty

Women with very large, drooping breasts may experience back and neck pain, skin irritation, skeletal deformities and breathing problems as a consequence of the extra weight. Unusually large breasts can also make a woman feel extremely self-conscious. Breast reduction surgery is type of breast augmentation cosmetic procedure designed to improve body proportions and relieve the symptoms related to overly large breasts.

Breast Reduction – Mammoplasty Surgery in Toronto

Our renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Yasser El-Sheikh, has years of experience and excellence performing these procedures. Our pre and post operative care is exceptional, and combined with our patient centred philosophy will provide you with a positive and rewarding experience. We will help you regain your confidence and achieve the look you desire.

About the Breast Reduction Procedure

Your plastic surgeon will make an anchor-shaped incision that will circle the areola, extending downward, and following the natural curve of the crease beneath the breast.
The surgeon removes any excess glandular tissue, fat, and skin, and moves the nipple and areola into their new position. They will then bring the skin from both sides of the breast down and around the areola, shaping the new contour of the breast.

Stitches are usually located around the areola, in a vertical line extending downward, and along the lower crease of the breast and, in some cases, techniques can be used that eliminate the vertical part of the scar. Occasionally, if only excess fat needs to be removed, liposuction alone can be used to reduce breast size, leaving minimal scars.

What to expect during recovery

Following breast reduction, you will experience some discomfort, swelling, and bruising which will last two to three weeks but which can be moderated through medication. You should avoid sleeping on your stomach for three weeks following surgery, and will wear a surgical bra for the first seven to ten days. The surgical bra will be replaced by a sports bra which you will be encouraged to wear at all times for several weeks.

Prior to your surgery, your plastic surgeon will provide detailed pre and post surgery instructions to ensure that you are properly prepared for the surgery and the recovery period.

Your New Look

Our goal is to help you feel confident and comfortable with the size, shape and feel of your breasts. Our doctors will focus on delivering a result that is beautiful, natural-looking, with an enhanced shape that is immediately noticeable after surgery.
