Is Centric Health Surgical Centre Toronto (Don Mills Surgical Unit) a Hospital?

Centric Health Surgical Centre Toronto (Don Mills Surgical Unit) is a Hospital licensed with the Ontario Ministry of Health.  We provide surgical services for generally healthy patients requiring day and overnight stay procedures. Don Mills Surgical Unit/Centric Health Surgical Centre Toronto is approved for general anesthesia and significant invasive procedures.

Who oversees the facilities?

Founded in 1960 as Don Mills Surgical Unit, Centric Health Surgical Centre Toronto is a fully accredited facility by the Canadian Association of Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (CAAASF). This level of quality provides patients the confidence that we operate at the highest level of quality care and service.

Do you have extended hours?

Centric Health Surgical currently offers consultations and surgery five days a week:  Monday to Friday 7.00am to 5.00pm. Centric Health Surgical Centre Toronto makes time available by appointment to see patients at a variety of hours in order to accommodate everyone.

Do you send out information?

Yes, we can send you information pertaining to the surgical procedure(s) you are interested in, our facility and financing. Please send us an email with your request using our contact form.

Do you have a charge for consultations?

Consultation fees vary by specialty, but in all cases, if you proceed with surgery the consult fee will be applied towards the cost of your procedure.

How long is the consultation?

Consultation duration is dependent on the specialty and they the patient’s needs. Generally they last between 30–60 mins.

How do I book a consult?

Do you have before and after pictures?

Yes, we do have books of before and after photos the Plastic Surgeons can review with you. In the future we plan to have an online gallery.

How many physicians and surgeons do you have?

At Centric Health Surgical Centre Toronto we have over 20 physicians and surgeons with privileges at facility. All surgeons are renown specialists in their field and are board certified by Royal College of Physician and Surgeons.  You can view each physician’s credentials on our site.  View our team.

Do I qualify for Surgery?

Depending on the surgery you are planning to have your consultation will confirm if you are a candidate.  As an example, some patients cannot be considered for surgical procedures at our facility as per the regulations of the College of Physicians and Surgeons. These are patients who are very overweight (BMI greater than 35 with high body fat), patients with bleeding disorders or multiple severe medical disorders that would put them at high risk for anesthesia. Patients undergoing weight loss surgery ARE eligible for surgery with certain restrictions even though their BMI is high. You can use the below calculator to calculate your BMI.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financial programs. Please go to our Financing page.

When do I pay for elective surgery?

We require a deposit at the time of booking your surgical date and full payment two weeks prior to surgery. Various payment methods are available.

How soon after the consultation can I have the surgery?

Anywhere between 1 to 6 weeks.

Where does the surgery take place?

Surgery takes place at our facility. We have a state of the art surgical facility with 3 operating rooms and 2 procedure/treatment rooms. We are located at 20 Wynford Drive, Don Mills, Ontario  M3C 1J4 View our location on google maps.

Is there parking available?

Parking is available adjacent to the 20 Wynford Drive Building.  It is managed by the Landlord and is charged at a rate of $4 Flat Fee per day.  They do offer a 15 minute IN/OUT Privilege when Dropping Off or Picking Up Patients. Any questions, please do not hesitate to call us or inquire on the day of your visit.

How do I choose the best surgeon?

Depending on the type of surgery required our facility will place you with the surgeon that specializes in that particular procedure.

Can I see more than one surgeon?

Yes, we offer 2nd-opinion consultation for peace-of-mind.

Where can I check the Surgeon’s past history?

Please review the physician credentials on our site on our team page. All surgeons are accredited by the College of Physicians and Surgeons in order to perform surgery at this facility. If you’d like to find any information beyond what is available from our advisors, you may contact the College of Physician and Surgeons of Ontario web site.

Can I see a specialist without a referral?

Yes, particularly for Plastics/Cosmetic surgery consultations as they do not require a referral.  Most others do, but please call us at 416-441-2111 or 1-888-857-6060 to inquire.

How many times before surgery will I have to come and see the Surgeon?

You may come as many times as you feel necessary, depends on your level of comfort. This may vary from 1 to several visits.

Do I need to have blood work done, or any other tests?

For patients that are 45 years of age or older or for patients with problems relating to high blood pressure we require an ECG test.

We require as CBC blood test for patients over 60 years of age.

Other tests might be required depending on the physical history of the patient.
